Obituary

Brenda Kay West, 74, of Hallsville, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 9, 2026 from 10 am – 12:00 pm at Park Lane Community Church in Hallsville, with the funeral service at 12:00 pm.

Burial will follow at Red Top Cemetery.

Brenda was born May 14, 1952, in Columbia, she is the daughter of Forest D. “Bud” and Norma Lyons. She was a graduate of Hallsville High School.

Brenda married Kenneth R. West on July 25th, 1970. They celebrated 56 years of marriage this past summer.

Brenda was a devoted stay-at-home mom to her boys. Once they were in school, she began her career as a bus driver for the Hallsville School District. She loved her job and proudly served the district for 40 years.

Brenda’s life was marked by the simple joys she loved most and the family who shared them with her. She loved taking long (and fast!) walks, cross stitching, and working with the Boone County Pork Producers every fair season. She enjoyed planting and tending to her garden every summer. She also loved keeping chickens for their eggs. Over the years, Brenda sold more eggs than anyone could possibly imagine! Above all, Brenda cherished her family. She especially loved being a grandma and great-grandma; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her so much joy.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Kenneth; her sons, Chris (Theresa) and Chad (Julee); her sisters, Susan Talley and Pam Thomas; her seven grandchildren, Derek (Katlin), Luke (Chloe), Karsyn (Ian), Colt, Parker (Jill), Garrett, and Rylee; and her nine great-grandchildren, Emersyn, Everleigh, Wrensley, Waylynn, Milo, Millie, Alex, Baylis, and a Baby Girl due this winter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Howard Lyons and Robert Lyons; and a niece and 2 nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Gentiva Hospice, especially Allie and Hannah, for the compassionate care and kindness they provided to Brenda and Kenneth for nearly two years.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hallsville FFA Alumni for a scholarship in Brenda’s name and may be sent in care of Fenton-Kendrick Funeral Home, 104 S. Collier St. Centralia, MO 65240.
