Charles Edward
Peters
Mar 11, 1954 — May 23, 2026
Centralia
Charles Edward Peters, 72 of Centralia, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.
Born on March 11, 1954, in Kirksville, the son of Robert John and Joan Marie (Schwartz) Peters.
For many years, Charlie owned and operated Charles Peters Trucking. His love of trucking got it's start from his time working with Leo O' Loughlin. His deep appreciation for history and machinery found expression beyond his career; he was the current president of the Mark Twain Old Threshers and an active member of the Power of the Past Club, the Allis Chalmers Club of Missouri, and the Historical Construction Equipment Association. Charlie's enthusiasm for old power equipment and antique tractors was well-known, and he took great joy in working with his brothers on them.
Family was always at the heart of Charlie’s life. He treasured time spent with his loved ones, relished playing pitch, enjoyed taking cruises and loved listening to live music. He is survived by his devoted wife, De Connors; daughters Jennifer Tolar and Mandy Daniels (David); sons Jeff Dillion and his family, and Josh Dillion; grandchildren Connor Daniels, Maggie Peters, Jocelyn Scherkenbach, Maverick Dillion, Paxton Dillion, and Callie Larson; Great grandchildren, Brentley, Macy, and Colby Daniels and Charlie Daniels. Charlie also leaves behind his brothers Mike Peters, Jimmy Peters, Bob Peters, and Kenny Peters, along with numerous other family and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Ellie Peters, his sister Cheryl Ann Peters, and his best friends Roger Graves and Denny Hasting.
He will be deeply missed but forever honored and celebrated by those who knew and loved him.
Charlie requested that in lieu of a formal ceremony, he would prefer his family to celebrate his life by enjoying time with one another. For those who wish to attend, we will be having a casual celebration on Sunday June 14th, 2026 at the Madison Community Center in Madison MO from 2pm-6pm.
