Obituary

Charles J. Wentz, 82, born October 16, 1942, in Harrisburg, Illinois, was called home to rest with Jesus on July 3, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Charles lived a life marked by love, kindness, and deep faith.

Charles had a passion for the outdoors and cherished the time spent hunting, fishing, and making memories with his family. He was a man of remarkable character—loving, caring, generous, and full of heart. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued.

He was married to the love of his life, Sherry, for more than 50 beautiful years—a bond built on faith, laughter, and unwavering support.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry; his daughters Angela Dawson (Jeremy) and Rebecca Swaim (Brent); 2 brothers Cade Wentz (Carol), Fred Wentz; daughter-in-law, Roxanne Wentz (Marvin); several nieces and nephews; 13 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellen and Charles Wentz; 2 brothers, Deward Wentz and Carrel Cronk; his sons, Marvin, William, and Steve Wentz; and his grandson, Connor Swaim.

Charles will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the legacy he leaves behind.
