Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Jane Rosenfelder, age 92, passed away peacefully at the University Hospital in Columbia on December 15, 2017.  She was born May 11, 1925 in Murry, MO to Irl and Edna (Smith) Ballew.  Betty grew up south of Centralia, MO and attended Grassland School.  She was a member of the First Christian Church in Centralia.  Betty married Glen Leroy Rosenfelder in Columbia on August 14, 1943, who preceded her in death in 1996.  Together, they owned and operated Glen's Garage from 1964 to 1975 and the Redwood Motel in Centralia for 25 years.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Fenton Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Centralia City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at the Funeral Chapel.

Betty was a quick-witted, beautiful, smart woman who loved her family and friends dearly.  She loved bowling, listening to Paul Harvey, watching the Golden Girls, shopping trips, the color red and keeping everyone warm… if you were ever lucky enough to visit Betty in her home, you know that she liked the room to be a "cozy" 90 degrees.

Betty was a proud mother to four sons, Randell Lee, Rodney Dale, Roger Glen and Robb and one daughter, Regina Ann.  While she enjoyed being a mother, some would say her greatest joy was being a grandmother.  She spent the last 39 years as a loving, fun "Grandma Betty" to her grandchildren.  She is famous in the family for her spaghetti, fudge, multiple chiming clocks and driving Grandpa Glen's truck just a bit too fast at times.

Betty is survived by three sons:  Randell Rosenfelder (Charlene) of Tama, IA, Roger Rosenfelder (Becky) of Centralia, MO, Robb Rosenfelder (Sandra) of Centralia, MO, and one daughter: Regina Prenger (Rick) of Marceline, MO; 11 grandchildren: Jenny Schlabaugh (Clint), Joey Rosenfelder (Kim), Blake Rosenfelder (Tana), Grant Rosenfelder (Jaime), Shelly Rosenfelder, Phillip Rosenfelder, Benjamin Rosenfelder (Lakin Dickey), Ashley Smashey (Derek), Courtney Schreiner (Lee), Rich Prenger (Catie), and Tanna Ross (Mark), along with 17 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by a sister: Ina Coolley of Columbia, MO; brother: Ray Ballew of Mexico, MO; and several nieces and nephews.  Betty was preceded in death by her husband Glen, her infant son Rodney, her parents and nine siblings.

The family asks that you please spend time with your loved ones, experience life and enjoy the little things that are so dear (especially children); this would be Betty's recipe for a love-filled life.
