Obituary

Valorie Jeanne Fadler, 63, passed away Thursday, October 22nd. Valorie was born January 21, 1963, in Syracuse, NY, the third of four children born to William and Adele Edwards. The unique spelling of her name with an “o” instead of an “e” is credited to her father as he sounded out her name when filling out her birth certificate.

A visitation will be held at Fenton-Kendrick funeral home in Centralia on Thursday, November 5th from 4-7pm.

Valorie met her husband, Brent, while in the eighth grade. They married August 7, 1982, raised two sons, and shared 44 wonderful years together. Valorie loved her family, the chestnut farm, and connecting with people. She devoted 29 years to teaching at Chance Elementary. She loved teaching and had a special gift for connecting with each student and making them feel valued and encouraged. Her dedication to students was recognized when she became the first recipient of the Apple Teacher Award presented by Centralia McDonald’s. She was also honored as Centralia Citizen of the Year.

After retiring from teaching, she continued tutoring for Mizzou Athletics before later working part-time for Homebank in Centralia. Valorie had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome, appreciated, and valued. Her genuine warmth, love of conversation, and the relationships she built throughout her life left a lasting impression on her family, friends, students, and community.

Valorie is survived by her husband, Brent Fadler; her sons Parker Fadler and wife Melissa of Hartsburg, Matthew Fadler and wife Kayla of Hallsville; and her five beloved grandchildren, Leah, Elise, Maclain, Myla, and Maddox. She is also survived by her sister Leslie Sims and husband Jeff of Centralia; her brothers: Bill Edwards and wife Jessica of The Villages, FL, and Richard Edwards and Kiersten of Indianapolis, IN; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will greatly miss her.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Valorie Fadler Memorial Fund to establish a memorial bench at Chance Elementary in honor of her and the many students whose lives she impacted. Contributions may be sent in care of Fenton-Kendrick Funeral Home, 104 S. Collier St., Centralia, MO 65240.
